Driven by its commitment to the decarbonization of materials, MATERI’ACT is partnering with PULSALYS and LINKSIUM to combine their expertise and foster the emergence of an innovation ecosystem focused on sustainable materials and deeptech.

Founded in 2022, MATERI’ACT aims to accelerate industrial decarbonization by developing new generation materials. The company designs high-performance alternatives to traditional materials, capable of reducing the carbon footprint by up to 85%, while improving the lightness and recyclability of components.

Located in Villeurbanne, its international R&D hub brings together a multidisciplinary team, combining expertise in materials science, chemistry, and artificial intelligence. This synergy of skills promotes the development of adaptive and predictive formulations, integrating a wide diversity of raw materials, with a guarantee of performance, stability, and regulatory compliance.

MATERI’ACT structures its offering around two families of sustainable products:

Rooted in a collaborative dynamic, MATERI’ACT relies on structuring partnerships, such as with Veolia, agricultural cooperatives, and textile start-ups, to secure its supplies and actively contribute to the structuring of a circular and sustainable sector.

PULSALYS, the deeptech innovation incubator and accelerator for Lyon and Saint-Étienne, has the mission to transform academic research results into concrete solutions, innovative products or services, generating real economic opportunities for businesses and startups in the region.

The hub identifies and supports high-potential scientific projects through several key levers:

For 12 years, PULSALYS has invested over 41 million euros, supported 330 projects, contributed to the creation of 162 deeptech startups, and generated over 1,600 jobs. Its actions cover many fields such as health, engineering, digital technology, human and social sciences, chemistry, cleantech, and materials.

Linksium is the technology transfer acceleration company (SATT) for research laboratories in Grenoble Alpes to the business world.

Linksium prioritizes the creation of startups, which become the vector for future technology transfer. Through its entrepreneurial and human dimensions, the startup accelerates the development of breakthrough products or services, the creation of new markets, and fosters investor interest.

Linksium also enables SMEs, mid-caps, and large industrial groups to integrate patented breakthrough innovations. Specializing in the upstream phases of technological innovation projects, Linksium is attentive to the economic, social, and territorial impact of scaling up these innovations in the fields of health, energy, digital technology, chemistry, and materials.

Linksium is also a founding member of the Grenoble Alpes University Innovation Cluster, supported by the Université Grenoble Alpes, and works, at the national level, in a network with the 13 SATTs. Since 2015, with an investment of €63 million, Linksium has supported 235 projects, valorized 172 patents, and co-founded 93 startups.

MATERI’ACT, PULSALYS and LINKSIUM formalize their strategic partnership, aimed at establishing a framework of expertise and trust to support projects and startups facing the challenges of industrialization and structuring of the sustainable materials sector.

On one hand, PULSALYS and LINKSIUM leverage their complementary expertise in supporting projects stemming from academic research, from technological maturation to acceleration. On the other hand, MATERI’ACT enriches the collaboration by opening its innovation hub, offering cutting-edge technological support, access to advanced industrial infrastructures – a characterization laboratory and a pilot workshop for the transformation of recycled and bio-sourced polymers – as well as market-oriented mentorship, directly connected to industrial realities.

In this dynamic, a first workshop dedicated to Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) took place at the initiative of MATERI’ACT’, with the support of the two SATTs. The objective was to integrate an environmental approach from the innovation design phase. This workshop is part of the continuity of joint actions already carried out by the three partners, such as cross-analysis of project portfolios, shared audits, and common interventions during specialized events.
